Veterans Day Chapel Honors Local Patriots

On Thursday, November 9th, middle school and high school students quietly gathered in the sanctuary, joining local veterans in attendance for a special Veterans Day program. The program opened with veterans, teachers, and students standing to recite the Pledge of Allegiance together (led by Senior Ella Webb).

Senior Class Chaplain Nathaniel Spinney led those in attendance in prayer, followed by the national anthem sung by the select vocal ensemble of Jordan DeGroft, Elizabeth Hess, and Nathaniel Spinney – directed by Fine Arts Director, Kyra Lancaster.

Miss Lancaster also led the middle school and high school choir in singing “America!

Middle school finalist Julia Howard shared her Patriot’s Pen VFW Essay Contest submission. High school finalist Rachel Fowle also read her Voice of Democracy VFW Essay Contest submission.

Master Sargeant Justin Elliott, USAF, was the special guest and speaker. Justin shared his life journey, as well as his experiences in the guard and multiple deployments to Afghanistan and Turkey. 
The program closed with the folding of the American flag and the playing of “Tapsby Nathaniel Spinney and Miss Kyra Lancaster.
