Delays and Cancellations

There are times when it is necessary to close school because of the adverse weather conditions. Mount Calvary Christian School will usually do whatever the Elizabethtown School District will do, because we are dependent on busing from the Durham Bus Company that supplies busing to several districts that also bus to us from outside of Elizabethtown.

If you live in another school district, you are free to follow what they do, even if Mount Calvary is different. Parents always have the option of keeping their children at home or picking them up early from school when, in their judgment, the weather and/or road conditions dictate.

The decision to close school will be made as early as possible, sometimes the night before school, but frequently early in the morning of a school day.

Announcements of the decision to close or delay will be made by radio and television.  You may tune to:

  • WDAC-94.5 FM
  • WJTL-90.3 FM
  • WGAL Channel 8
  • WHP Channel 21
  • WHTM Channel 27
  • Fox 43

The school’s automated texting system will give you a notification. Please enroll using the instructions in the Student Handbook.

If a surprise storm hits the area while school is in session, we may decide to close early, cancel an event, or both.  If such a situation occurs, listen to the same radio and television stations for this information.
