Isabel Robles was recognized as the Student of the Month for April; Congratulations, Isabel!
What are your plans after graduation?
“After graduation, I plan to Taccoa Falls College in Georgia to study nursing and get my Bachelor of Science in Nursing.”
What sports, clubs, or activities have you been involved in? Any awards or special recognitions?
“Throughout my time at Mount Calvary, I’ve participated in soccer and track and field. I’ve also been a part of student council. I’ve done hair and makeup for all the musicals, and I’ve achieved academic all-conference.”
What classes have helped you in your career objective?
“The classes that have helped me toward my future career have been anatomy and physiology with Mrs. Risser, where I got CPR and First Aid-certified, as well as the college class I’ve gotten to take through multiple colleges.”
How have the teachers at MCCS made an impact on your life?
“All the teachers and staff at Mount Calvary have been so welcoming and encouraging – from the office to the kitchen. Some of the teachers who have impacted me the most have been Mrs. Risser and Mrs. Aument; they incorporate different teaching styles in their lessons throughout the year so that all the different kids with different learning strategies can all learn in their own way.”
What has God been teaching you lately?
“Something God has been teaching me throughout this past year has been to trust in His plan. I’ve had to make a lot of big decisions this past year with college and going away and what major I’m going to study. Just knowing that He has a plan for me and that His plan is better than mine could ever be has been super encouraging.”
What special or unique opportunities has MCCS given you?
“An opportunity that I’ve had has been my internship with Mrs. Hollinger. Mrs. Hollinger is our school nurse, and for the past two years I’ve gotten to be her intern. As her intern, I’ve gotten to help with charting, learning how to properly take care of equipment, and helping with health class and CPR classes.”
What is something you will miss about MCCS?
“I’m going to miss coming into Mount Calvary and seeing all of my friends and all the amazing teachers. I want to thank the teachers and my parents who have helped me through my time at Mount Calvary. I’m really going to miss it here.”
What advice do you have for the younger students?
“My advice for younger students would be, don’t wait. Don’t wait to meet new friends or try new things. Don’t wait to join new clubs or try new activities, and don’t wait on your relationship with God. As our superintendent Mr. Griest would say, ‘find your mark.'”
What is one of your favorite high school memories?
“Some highlights from my time at Mount Calvary have been the auction every fall, the senior retreat and the senior trip, and getting to help out with the field days at the end of the year.”
