Evan Zeager was recognized as the Student of the Month for February. Congratulations, Evan! We enjoyed sitting down and hearing a little bit about your journey at MCCS. Read his interview below.
What are your plans after graduation?
“After graduation, I plan to attend Liberty University and major in mechanical engineering.”
What sports, clubs, or activities have you been involved in? Any awards or special recognitions?
“Throughout my time at Mount Calvary, I’ve participated in soccer all four years, winning the CCAC Championship during my sophomore year, and achieving the All-Conference recognition during my senior year. I’ve also participated in National Honor Society as well as student council, which has helped me with my leadership skills and my people skills.”
What classes have helped you in your career objective?
“Some classes that have helped me toward my future career plans have been Mrs. Fortney’s math classes. She’s been my teacher throughout high school, and her classes such as Precalculus and others have helped me reach my goal of engineering in school, so I just want to thank her.”
How have the teachers at MCCS made an impact on your life?
“During my time at Mount Calvary, I’ve enjoyed all of the teachers that I’ve had – specifically Mrs. Fortney, who has been my math teacher and helped me with my future career plans. She has made math enjoyable and fun.
Mr. Sintic has been my Teacher Intern teacher over the last two years; spending time with him and helping him serve the school has been very enjoyable, and he’s been a great guy in my life.”
What has God been teaching you lately?
“Recently, God has been teaching me to be content with where I’m at in life and be happy in the place he has me – specifically during this year, my senior year. I’m learning to not try to get ahead but to enjoy my last year at Mount Calvary.”
Do you have any advice for younger students?
“One piece of advice I have for younger students would be as you get older and go through school, try to find something you’re really passionate about and go all in on it; don’t go half in on various things. Find one or two things you’re passionate about, and give it your all, and do your best for the glory of God.”
What is one of your favorite high school memories?
“One of my favorite memories from my time here at Mount Calvary was winning the CCAC Championship in soccer during my sophomore year. It was a great season and lots of fun with all the guys.
Something I’ll miss about the school is the teachers; I’ve always had good relationships with all the teachers, and they’ve always been super helpful. I’ll also miss the students here. I’ve made a lot of great friends and influenced some underclassmen as well.”
Any closing thoughts?
“Throughout my 10 years here at Mount Calvary Christian School, I’ve thoroughly enjoyed my time with teachers and friends. I’d like to thank my parents for helping me through school, the teachers that I mentioned, and the many friends I’ve made. I will miss my time here and am truly grateful for everyone who’s influenced me.”
