Senior Nina Zinn was recognized as the Student of the Month for December. Check out her interview below.
Congratulations, Nina! We enjoyed hearing a little bit about your journey at MCCS and all that God is doing in your life.
What are your plans after graduation?
“After graduation, I plan to attend Liberty University and study early education.”
What sports, clubs, or activities have you been involved in? Any awards or special recognitions?
“This year, I’m the student council president, I’m a service project coordinator with National Honor Society, and I’m on praise team.”
How have the teachers at MCCS made an impact on your life?
“I would say the most influential part of Mount Calvary for me has been the teachers – two in particular would be Mrs. Risser and Mr. Ierley. Mrs. Risser has been like a spiritual mom to all of us. I can always go to her whenever I need anything. She’s really impacted my walk with Christ and encouraged me to dig deeper in that area.
Mr. Ierley has really deepened our faith and questioned us on things to help us further take our faith out into the world.”
What has God been teaching you lately?
“There are two things God has been teaching me lately. One is to find good friends who will encourage your walk, those who are God-centered and will lead you down the right path. The other thing is something my mom says from Matthew 5:14-16, which is to ‘be the light.’ Jesus is the light of the world, and we should be showing His light to others and sharing His good news with everybody.”
Do you have any advice for younger students?
“If I could share one thing with the younger students it would be (like I said previously) to be the light. We are so blessed to be in a Christian school where we can talk about our walk with God. Sometimes it can be difficult, but it’s really encouraging when you can see others stepping out, you know you can step out as well. You can be that person to step out for others and share God with them.”
What is one of your favorite high school memories?
“My favorite memory from MCCS has been my sophomore year praise team retreat. It was really nice to get plugged into high school with new friends, along with being able to worship God together.”
