Senior Logan Stewart was recognized as the Student of the Month for May; Congratulations, Logan!
What are your plans after graduation?
“After graduation, I plan to further my career as an electrician by temporarily working for RP Electric as I look for a more suficient, full-time job that offers health benefits and retirement benefits.“
What sports, clubs, or activities have you been involved in? Any awards or special recognitions?
“While at Mount Calvary, I played basketball for two years, soccer for four years, and baseball for our years. I was also the class vice-president for four years, a part of student council for three years, and a part of National Honor Society for two years.”
How have the teachers at MCCS made an impact on your life?
“All the teachers here at Mount Calvary have been loving and have poured into my life; one specific example would be Dr. Mini, our athletic director. He was there to help me figure out how it would work to do theater and sports (two things that I love) at the same time. He worked through that process with me and was there along the side to motivate and encourage me.”
What has God been teaching you lately?
“In my life, I’ve seen God working through me through my reactions and how I respond to adversity and when things don’t go my way. I’ve also seen Him work in my mindset towards doing things. For example, I used to do everything out of selfish ambition and vain conceit; I’d do something and wonder, ‘What can I gain from this? What’s it worth to me?’
I shouldn’t be thinking like that. Instead, I should think, ‘How can I glorify God through this?‘ I’ve seen that the most through work and working for Him, I’ve had much more joy in my life since doing things for the Lord and not for myself. It’s the coolest way I’ve seen God work in my life.”
What special or unique opportunities has MCCS given you?
“While at Mount Calvary, I’ve had the opportunity to take part in a work co-op program, so I went to school for the first half of my day, and during the second half of my day, I’d go out to a job site, where I was able to get real-world, hands-on experience to learn and grow in my career as an electrician.”
What is something you will miss about MCCS?
“Something I’ll miss about Mount Calvary is my friends. I’ve had the opportunity to get to know a lot of people here from all classes, and I’m going to miss seeing them on a daily basis.”
What advice do you have for the younger students?
“My advice for the younger students at Mount Calvary would be to not let others’ opinions of you shape who you are, Live a life for the Lord, and honor Him in all you say and do, and if people think you’re not cool for that, then it’s okay, because you’re pleasing the Lord. You don’t need to please your friends.”
What is one of your favorite high school memories?
“My favorite memory at Mount Calvary was the time I went to the PA Renaissance Fair with Mrs. Aument and Mrs. Richards and a few other students. That’s where I found out I had appendicitis, and I lost my appendix that night.”
