Senior Jason Becker was recognized as the Student of the Month for November. Check out his interview below.
Congratulations, Jason! We enjoyed hearing a little bit about your journey at MCCS and all that God is doing in your life.
What are your plans after graduation?
“After graduation, I plan to attend St. Joseph’s University to receive a master’s degree in business administration and also begin my journey as a filmmaker for businesses.”
What sports, clubs, or activities have you been involved in? Any awards or special recognitions?
“During my time at Mount Calvary, I’ve played soccer on the varsity soccer team (all four years), during which I’ve been a captain for one year and received the CCAC All-Conference Award for two years. I’ve also been a part of National Honor Society, and this year, I’ve become the president of NHS. Finally, I’ve been a chaplain for three years.”
How have the teachers at MCCS made an impact on your life?
“When I think about the teachers at Mount Calvary, I believe that as a whole, they’ve all had some form of influence of me, specifically in my spiritual journey or helping me to grow as a person. I think of my class advisors, but I also think of my Bible teachers, Mr. Ierley being one of them.”
What has God been teaching you lately?
“One thing that God has really spoken to me about in the last year or so has been my priorities: how I prioritize my time and into what I put my energy. If I’m not putting my energy into growing my relationship with Him, then nothing else is going to fulfill me.”
Do you have any advice for younger students?
“To the younger students at Mount Calvary, I would say to envision the person you want to be, making sure that person aligns with God and who He is. Try to become that person. When you fail at times, which you will, don’t be discouraged about that, but use that as a lesson, and push yourself to be who you want to be.”
What is one of your favorite high school memories?
“Some of my favorite Mount Calvary memories would include my media class and beginning Chargers News with some of my friends.”
