Elementary Reading Contest

1st though 5th’s reading contest theme this year was Superheroes.  Each individual class had different goals of pages to be read.  Students were given prizes based on goals reached. The event culminated in Spirit Week.  The students and faculty enjoyed dressing up  each day to different themes of superheroes, crazy hair, pajamas and backward day.  Students appreciated a day of rollerskating to finish the month’s work.

Spiritual Emphasis Days

Grandparents Day

Grandparents Day was held on March 17th.  This year we held a K3-K5 grandparents day and a 1st-5th grandparents day.  The K3-K5 students performed a short excerpt from their daily class schedule.  The event was hosted by Marta Griest.  The older students sang, played instruments, recorders, tone chimes, and resonator bells.  Carter Conlon was this years speaker.  He is the pastor of Times Square Church. The high school musical performed a short song of “Feed the Birds.”  After the performance and lunch, the grandparents were able to spend the rest of the day out of school with their grandchildren.

M-Term

M-Term is a week of elective style courses for students to explore various areas of interest they may not otherwise have the opportunity to investigate. Chemistry of Cooking and Theology of Video Games were a few of the offerings.  Students in the Hearts of Service class impacted their community with service projects at the Jubilee Shop and Gain International’s warehouse.
