Handbell Choirs

Middle school handbell choir is the beginning level handbell performing group at Mount Calvary. Studnets review note and rhythm reading, learn basic ringing techniques, and learn care of instruments and equipment.  This handbell choir performs at the winter and spring concerts and competes at the MS ACSI Fine Arts Festival. Team unity, excellence in performance, and communicating through worship are also stressed.  Participation is subject to approval by the director (15 members maximum).

High school handbell choir is the advanced level handbell performance group at Mount Calvary.  These students must be accomplished note and rhythm readers, willing to strive for excellence in music for His glory.  Because of the nature of handbell ringing, it is imperative that each member of the choir be able to depend on the commitment of the other members to the group.  Therefore, a greater level of faithfulness to rehearsals (2 per week), concerts, music retreat, and music tour is expected.  The high school handbell choir may compete at the HS ACSI Fine Arts Festival. They will also participate in a handbell festival hosted by MCCS in March.

Participation is subject to approval by the director (15 members maximum). Senior members are appointed as officers.
Note: There may be times, especially during the week of competition, that an after school or Saturday morning rehearsal will be held.  At least two weeks notice will be given if this should be necessary.
