ART CLASSES
Art classes are held for elementary students in K4 through grade 6.
Middle school art is comprised of a three semester overview of art history from prehistoric art to the present day. Students are required to take one semester of art per year. All art projects will be graded for neatness, following instructions, timely completion of assignments, as well as attitude and creativity. Since there are no tests or quizzes and very few homework assignments, the art projects are the main basis for the student’s grade.
High school art is comprised of four elective classes which must be taken in sequence. These classes each meet two periods a week for the entire school year.
Art I – Elements of Design
Art II – Principles of Design
Art III – Media and Techniques
Art IV – Independent Studio Art
All art projects are graded. Since there are no tests, quizzes, or homework, the art projects are the basis for the student’s grade. Creativity and excellence are encouraged and expected.
